Have you been listening to Scrappy Music? No, seriously lean in closely. On Tuesday April 14^th something happened for the first time in a little Café just a few minutes away. Scrappy Speaks hit the little town of Clemson with full force

Student performers got up on stage in the quaint little Café and laid down the word and sung a few bars of their favorite musical selections.

Scrappy Music even brought their own artists to perform for the anxiously awaiting crowd. Music of all genres was represented at the event and the vibe was out of this world.

Acoustic guitar was strumming away as the crowd was uplifted by poetry the shook the soul. Snaps all around for Scrappy Speaks

The Scrappy Music Baseball Tailgate was a definite success. Clemson fans lined up and shared their love for good food, music, and fun. The Clemson Gorilla Squad worked closely together to keep the baseball fans entertained.

Not only was the Scrappy Music Baseball Tailgate a success for the company but it was also a philanthropic effort that made everyone happy. Proceeds collected from the Scrappy Music Tailgate were donated to Soccer in the Streets. Soccer in the Streets is a not for profit group that provides after school recreational programs to underprivileged youth.

Scrappy Music is going all the way in 2009. Since partnering with the Clemson Gorilla Squad of Clemson University the company is reaching out to the campus community. Scrappy Music will host three events along with the Clemson Gorilla Squad before the close of the school year. The three events are as follows:

• Clemson University Baseball Tailgate
• Greek Week
• Scrappy Speaks Out: Have You Heard the Word?

These three events were constructed by the Clemson students who are being led by owners Chris Berena and Grant Kevins. One student commented, “These events are a great way to promote Scrappy Music and have a good time.” The Baseball tailgate will be held on April 8 and the Clemson Tigers will take on the Carolina Gamecocks. The other two events will be held a week after the baseball tailgate and are sure to leave the campus buzzing.

Usually when people think of a music label, group, etc they think of ‘flashing lights,’ music videos and rappers drenched from head to toe in jewels. Scrappy Music on the other hand isn’t caught up in the Hollywood appeal of the music industry. They believe in doing their part within the community by giving back.

Scrappy Music is one company that is firmly rooted in the benevolent community and they are always willing to comply with charitable causes. Currently Scrappy Music is partnering with the Marrowthon to help fight against Leukemia. The young independent music company is utilizing their service of printing custom t-shirts to raise funds to fight against the illness.

It has now been three weeks that I have been interning with Scrappy Music. All I can say is ….WOW. I knew that this internship would be a nice opportunity to employ my internet skills and creativity to a growing new company. However, as I sit back and reflect on the third week I must say that I was somewhat unprepared to take on the tasks that have been expected of me.

Now, don’t read the above statements and take me as a slacker, a bum, or an unmotivated moocher. I am simply a college student. And while these tasks have been difficult they are making me a better person and preparing me for the REAL WORLD. Scrappy Music has allowed me to be a blogger, a musical talent scout, a promoter, and an organizer all rolled into one. Where else can you tap into this many venues with an internship? This position is heaven sent.

I have been able to do tons of social networking through my group Scrappy Music where I keep supporters informed about the company. I am twittering constantly as Mizz Music to keep Scrappy followers updated about the Scrappy Music site and Scrappy Radio. Not only do I spread the news about Scrappy Music, but I get to head up my own campaign for Scrappy Music about spoken word through Facebook and a custom site that I created, Have You Heard the Word. I love the creative freedom that Scrappy Music has granted me.
